Can We Recreate the U.S. Election System on the Internet? Read the White Paper and Find Out.

Ok. Here’s my first big think piece on elections.

In fairness and full disclosure, I had to check my ego and get some up front assistance from my Dad, in terms of the approach, outline, a general idea of how elections work (below the federal level), and pretty much everything else. My initial work was hacked, again, again, and again. Did I mention ‘again.’ That said, the idea was mine and who doesn’t need an editor?

Abstract:

A virtual, version of the United States election system would allow people to vote in federal, state, and local elections. While a centralized ‘election server’ is important, the main benefits are lost if you have too many input formats into the server. This is what we are experiencing with the current U.S. election systems and processes.

We propose a virtual election server that centralizes the multiple, disparate election systems used today into a single, distributed platform that relies specifically on app and web- based voting with digital signature verification as part of the solution.

The benefits of this approach include: a common voting app for all voters, a fully distributed voting process, centralized digital verification, the ability to run multiple, concurrent elections, and real time election results.
